- Soak rice & black gram for about 4 hours.Use only the skinless black gram for the purpose.
- Wash them properly & grind into thick batter.Grind leaving a little coarseness in the rice.Whip well.
- Leave the batter for.fermentation for about 8 hours or overnight.
- Now to prepare the stuffing place a kadai on medium flame.Add the grated coconut, jaggery.Stir.well & cook till it becomes a little dry.Add powdered cardamom & black pepper.Mix well & keep aside.
- Now to prepare haldi Pitha take one turmeric leaf.Put a little batter on the leaf.
- Then put the required quantity of stuffing on the batter.Cover the stuffing with some batter & fold the turmeric leaf length wise in such a way that the stuffing gets sandwiched in between two layers of batter.
- Now steam them in a traditional way.It is similar to the way we steam Idli.
- Steam for about 10 mints, you can check the perfection of the Pitha by inserting a fork.The fork must be comes out clean.
- Serve the Pitha with any curry of your choice like bandha kobi ghanta/ cabbage mix veg & with Payes.
