The ingredients needed to make Chicharons:
  1. Take Pork skin
  2. Prepare 2 cups oil
  3. Make ready Favorite seasoning
  4. Get 1 dehydrator

The layer of meat was crispy on the surface yet tender on the inside. Best of all, the fat cushioning the skin and the flesh was sweet and solid, with just a small burst of porky juice flowing from each bite. The crispy morsels of skin with fat attached, the chicharron, heaven! Did you know that you can get pig skin from your butcher for just a few bucks?

Instructions to make Chicharons:
  1. Boil pork skin for 30 min
  2. Remove from heat and let cool
  3. Remove excess fat with hand if any on skin
  4. Cut skin into small strips about 1/4” wide 1”- 2” in length
  5. Place in dehydrator for 24 hours
  6. Skins should look translucent and almost feel like pieces of plastic when done dehydrated.
  7. Heat oil to 375* once oil is hot drop in a few pork skins and watch the fun.
  8. Season with favorite seasoning and enjoy. Chicharons

Grab some lard too, go home, and make your own cracklings, it's easy! There aren't many pork skin sources out there that meet those standards (even organic doesn't mandate this last I checked).
