Moo shu pork (also spelled mù xū ròu, moo shi pork, mu shu or mu xu pork) is a dish of northern Chinese origin, possibly originating from Shandong. Moo shu is eating by taking a moo shu pancake in your hand, spread the inner side with sauce, then add pork mixture, egg, and vegetables as desired, wrap, and eat. Whisk together the eggs with the Shaoxing wine and salt.

The ingredients needed to make Mu Shu Pork:
  1. Make ready 250 g pork Mince
  2. Make ready 1 tsp Chinese5 spice
  3. Make ready 1 tsp Miso Paste
  4. Make ready 1 large Carrot
  5. Prepare 1 medium Courgette
  6. Take 15 g Ginger
  7. Make ready 2 Garlic Cloves
  8. Make ready 1 Chicken Stock Cube
  9. Prepare 1 tbsp Tomato Puree
  10. Prepare 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  11. Prepare 1 Baby Jem Lettuce

Stack the slices and cut them into thin strips. In a medium bowl, mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, and rice wine. Add the sliced pork and toss to coat. Moo shu pork, a dish that most likely originated in the northern region of China, is a common dish in China as well as in American Chinese restaurants.

Steps to make Mu Shu Pork:
  1. Pre heat an oven to 200C
  2. To a baking tray, add the pork mince, chinese five spice and miso paste. Mix together and then drizzle with a little olive oil. Place in the oven for around 10mins or until the mince starts to crisp.
  3. Meanwhile, grate the carrot and courgette. Once the meat is ready, remove the tray from the oven, give everything a good mix around and the lay the grated vegetables over the top. Place the tray back in the oven for another 10mins.
  4. Peel and grate the garlic and ginger. Heat a wide based pan over a medium heat with a drizzle of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the ginger and garlic, cook for around 2-3mins or until fragrant. Boil a kettle of water.
  5. Crumble the stock cube into the pan and then add the tomato puree, soy sauce and 150ml boiled water. Add the meat and vegetables from the tray, give everything a good mix and then cook until the sauce is reduced and resembles a ragu like consistency.
  6. Serve in the leaves of the lettuce.

One of the hallmarks of this dish is the way that it is served. The main dish is made of pork, scrambled eggs, sliced mushrooms, and a number of other ingredients for flavor. Remove, strain pork and set aside. To Make The Moo Shu Pork: Add the thinly-sliced pork (or chicken) to half of the marinade, and toss until the meat is evenly coated in the marinade. Combine soy sauce, sherry and hoisin sauce in a bowl.
